1. Most = the majority = большинство
В этом значении most + существительное используется без артикля.
Most problems are money-related.
Most people will support him.
Most rubbish is recycled.
Обратите внимание на то, что в этом случае значение фраз most people, most problems широкое.
2. Если сделать значение более узким, типа “большинство людей, пришедших на вечеринку”, то к сущ. добавляется артикль, а к most добавляется of.
Most of the people who came to the party were smartly dressed.
Также значение можно сделать уже, используя this, that, his, her, my, your
I hated most of his jokes.
Т.е.
most of + article/this, that/his, her/my, your/
Most of my friends are scientists.
She spends most of her time making videos.
Most of this novel is interior monologue.
3. Когда же используется the most?
- с превосходной степенью прилагательных
It is the most successful project so far.
They’re using the most advanced technology in the world.
- с существительными в значении “больше чем другие”
He earns the most money in our family.
- с глаголом в качестве наречия
He eats the most in our family. – Он ест больше всех в нашей семье.
Everybody cried, but Sofia cried the most. – Плакали все, но Софья плакала больше всех.
