Writing Prompt
Write about something that has changed in your life over the last few months. Describe the way you lived or thought before, talk about the actions you took to make those changes (use Past Simple) and how they’ve affected you, how something in your life is different now (use Present Perfect where suitable) .

About 8 years ago, I used to lead a very self-centred lifestyle. While I always considered myself a kind person, I rarely actively engaged in charity or volunteering activities. I would often think about giving back to the community or helping those in need, but I never took the necessary steps to do what must be done.
Once, I watched two movies about two different women, Rachel Joy Scott and Grand Duchess Elizabeth of Russia. On that day, something within me started shifting, and I realised the importance of contributing to a cause greater than myself. I started by researching local charities and volunteering opportunities in my area. I reached out to several organisations and expressed my willingness to support their initiatives by volunteering my time and skills.
Since then, I have dedicated several hours each week to volunteering at local hospitals, homeless shelters, and joining groups to search for missing people. These experiences have had a profound impact on me. I have developed a greater sense of empathy and gratitude for the blessings in my life. Engaging in charity and volunteering activities has also helped me expand my perspective on the world. I have learned valuable lessons about compassion, resilience, and the power of community coming together to make a difference.
And, at the end of my message, I’d like to say that the decision to actively engage in helping people in need has transformed my life in ways I never imagined. It has truly opened my eyes to the power of kindness and generosity, and allowed me to meet many people who taught me great things. I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference, no matter how small it may seem.
